What is the best program to use to scan my computer for unwanted programs, spam, malware etc...?

The computer is older but still runs a little slow and I account some of that to the internet provider, but it seems to run all the time. Never idle. I run Systems Care often and it says there is nothing wrong and clears the temp file and all that good stuff. But I think there is something more going on. Any ideas or suggestions? What is the best program to use to scan my computer for unwanted programs, spam, malware etc...?
Use Avast pro along with Reginout on your system to improve security and performance of your issue. Thanks
No ONE single program will do the job.

This is what I use:

1. Microsoft Security Essentials : Anti Virus and Anti Spy Ware

2. Malwarebytes: Anti Trojan and fake virus warnings.

3. CCleaner: Crap Cleaner. What is the best program to use to scan my computer for unwanted programs, spam, malware etc...?
If your computer has not been formatted in a long time, it is prone to have incidental system degradation, in other words it will get slow. If you want to keep your computer truly safe, I would recommend you to run Faronics layered security, This way your computer will be safe regardless of the amount of malware available.

Now since you are asking which software, I would recommend Eset Smart Security. It works well for home computers (amazingly so) and is light on resources.

If you are suspecting more, try to run the disk defragmenter:

You need to use Malwarebytes PLUS a good antivirus program to clean your computer (scan with both, Malwarebytes first). You can get Malwarebytes from download.com. As for a good antivirus, here is an article about how to choose one - http://www.auslogics.com/en/articles/wha鈥?/a>

On the windows partition of my macbook I run a few free programs to keep it running, and have used these programs to delete viruses.

Spybot S%26amp;D -- Free

Ad-aware -- Free

and then a random free antivirus, most are simply trials, but the previous 2 things should be good enough to prevent viruses, but you will need an antivirus if you want to eliminate an existing virus.

I used a trial of AVG
AVG Free.
Comodo Internet Security Pro 2012 prevents attack before they start., Stops viruses entering your pc !!!
